City of Edmonton News Conference- Kick-Off for the 2017 Infill Construction Season
We have been fortunate to work very closely alongside the City of Edmonton on their new campaign Evolving Infill. Edmonton is growing at a rapid pace and the 2017 Infill season has started off strong with media events, open invites across the city for public discussions and information sessions that inform the Edmonton public about all things infill. In past years infill has been a hot topic with both positive and negative response from Edmontonians and the city is launching an initiative to let us know that we are being heard and to invite us to contribute opinions and ideas! For more information on Infill in the City of Edmonton please visit the City of Edmonton Infill site here!
City of Edmonton- Public Infill Discussion at City Hall (Evolving Infill)
Evolving Infill, is an opportunity to work with Edmontonians to identify the next best steps tothe growing population and how to accommodate them without having to necessarily grow outwards. This project helps provide opportunities for Edmontonians to question what infill means for the city, and helps us to explore how to better support new homes within mature and established neighbourhoods over the coming years. As stated on the City of Edmonton website:
Evolving Infill has three main objectives:
- Find opportunities to welcome more people and new homes into our neighbourhoods.
- Identify recommendations for how the City can best support quality residential infill development in core, mature and established neighbourhoods.
- Create a strategic implementation plan to support the recommendations.
City of Edmonton- Looking into Garage Suites
As stated on the City of Edmonton Infill website: “Garden Suite means a single-storey Accessory Dwelling, which is located in a building separate from the principal use, which is Single Detached Housing. A Garden Suite has cooking facilities, food preparation, sleeping and sanitary facilities which are separate from those of the principal dwelling located on the site.” The city of Edmonton encourages and monitors guidelines for proper infill which includes style of infill and size.
