Commercial photography is used to sell or promote a product or service
Commercial photography can cover quite a wide range of topics and is used to sell or promote a product or service. It supports businesses or organizations in making more money, which can refer to product, lifestyle, and even fashion photography, depending on the client and what is being sold. Commercial photography in Alberta is no different. Depending on the client and the product/service being sold, it can also include architectural photography! These photos are used on websites, in marketing material, in print or digital ads, on billboards, or anywhere else a client wishes to communicate visually with their customer. Simply put, the definition of commercial photography hinges on the end use of the images rather than on the actual content of the photographs.
South Edmonton Orthodontics
South Edmonton Orthodontics reached out to us as they planned on updating their website. They needed updated imagery of their beautiful office, their location and of the employees that are the integral part behind their services. Making sure the team felt completely at ease while getting their photos taken was top priority. We asked a lot of questions, both prior to the shoot and during. We wanted to make sure we understood and captured what they needed. Their people and their space needed to be seen. When people were looking for orthodontic services they could see exactly who the people were that would be helping them and see their state of the art facilities (as seen below.)

Saville Community Sports Centre
We have been shooting for the Campus Recreation department for some time now. We take pride in having over a decade long photography relationship with the University of Alberta and it’s many varying departments. Saville Community Sports Centre is a sports facility run by the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation. It features a curling rink, tennis courts and a gymnasium that is top notch.
Commercial photography in Alberta, like everywhere else, is vast
When we were approached to come in and shoot their amazing space we knew we had to show just how spacious their facility was. We had shot some campaigns for them in the past. Using their facilities we focused on WHO used their facilities but our clear goal with this shoot was to display the high end facility that Saville Centre is. Commercial photography in Alberta, like everywhere else, is vast. No matter what your interests are, you’ll probably find a niche you love in this photography genre! We are so happy to help SO many businesses with their end goals!

Chartwell Retirement Residences
When Chartwell reached out for us to photograph one of their properties in Edmonton their need was to openly show the beautiful facility they had to potential customers. They knew their potential customers were looking for a vibrant retirement community for their senior family members. The stages in life where you might have to consider leaving your family home (college, marriage, moving abroad, moving into assisted living) are often met with anxious feelings. Chartwell wanted to show that their facilities were warm and welcoming. Their properties provide ample space, activities and offerings that nurture their residents and their needs for social interaction.

A Combined Fee
Like most commercial photographers we charge hourly for our services with a post production fee that is often charged hourly as well. What we pride ourselves on is the removal of licensing fees that is often associated to commercial photography. Being in the business for over 15 years we know our work and our experience speaks for itself. We strongly believe that a project should be charged out as any other form of photography. That is why we charge clients one combined fee. Time on location and post production are charged hourly and don’t require any additional fees based on what, where and how you choose to use the photos.
When you request quotes from us at Crystal Puim Photography we send out a break down of costs. We show our hourly charges and an estimation of what your project will need for time. That’s it. You can easily see what we are offering for what we charge. If your project needs extra time or photos you can see how much extra it will cost.
If you are looking for commercial photography in Alberta we would be happy to supply a quote. Let’s discuss your needs! Commercial photography hinges on the end use of the images rather than on the actual content of the photographs. This makes specializing in this field a particularly varied but exciting career in photography. Every project is different in needs and goals and that’s why we adore commercial photography and specialize in it! Please feel free to reach out any time by going to our contact page.
