iMedia Conference 2012: Fantasyland Hotel

Over the last five years, several North American social media conferences have been created to really engage and connect bloggers and social media enthusiasts to each other as well as major brands. We often hear that enthusiasts residing in Western Canada often feel that that there aren’t enough local opportunities for these types of conferences. iMedia is a smaller scale, more localized conference that not only attract women (which many of the popular conferences are designed for women) but also men. There is a stronger general focus of all things social media, rather than just bloggers.

We did another promotional shoot with Residence Services at the University of Alberta to use for their professor and student coffee chats they have!

Highlevel Diner was the location for our shoot and I loved the colors -what a great location and everyone is SO friendly!

I was asked to photograph my friend’s dad’s 60th surprise birthday party! I’ve met Mr. Sheard numerous times and he was always a delightful, well educated and fun man whom I could see was highly regarded by the friends he held and the work he’s done for the community. When I was approached to be part of the celebratory festivities I was tickled pink! His daughter and my good friend Kim even flew out from London (where to my shock I realized she has been living for 9 years now- as long as I have had my photography career) to serenade him! A true performer this lady came all the way here on a long flight on Thursday night only to leave again on Sunday in time for auditions for a play she is producing! That’s not only love but a true tribute to what a wonderful man her father is!

Hope it was a good birthday Mr. Sheard and I look forward to seeing what many more things you accomplish! He said something during his speech that moved me profoundly, he said “I hope when it’s my time to pass on that people say of me that I found my life’s work at the age of 60!” Inspiring! Here I am complaining at 32- and it really goes to show you that there’s time in life to do a great many things!!! -cpp
