Client Spotlight: University of Alberta Campus and Community Recreation
"My Move. My Moment."
This past year we got to do a rather large campaign for the UofA Campus and Community Recreation department. This UofA Recreation campaign spotlight will feature the UofA rec campaign titled "My Move. My Moment." The purpose of this campaign was twofold. The department wanted to show that these awesome facilities on campus (Van Vliet Centre and Saville Centre) were open to all of the community, not just students who attended the university. They wanted to show the positive mental impact fitness has! The campaign "My Move. My Moment." is about showing what physical movement can do for self esteem, for mental health and for bringing community together!This campaign was quite large and was quite a feat to organize. It took lots of partnering to organize the numerous models that helped us out over 4 days of shooting. Thankfully we got two parts of the campaign done- one for North Campus Van Vliet Centre and the other for South Campus Saville Centre in record time!
Our first campaign that focused on MOVEMENT
Now this isn't our first campaign. It was, however, our first campaign that focused on movement.
We shot it very "guerilla" style with very little set up. In fact pretty much everything you see was shot without lights on location- many were shot during actual fitness classes with the odd one using 10-15 minutes of set up shots. Other than that it was all action as it was VERY IMPORTANT to the client to have these photos look realistic and candid.
Keep your eyes peeled while walking through the Van Vliet Centre or Saville Centre because you will see a lot about the "My Move. My Moment" campaign...everything from large banners, screen spots, building peels and paperless Recreation Guides that go out 4x a year. Bus ads, bus shelters and possibly billboards are in the works too!
