Architectural photography versus Construction photography.

When talking about architectural photography it is best to see it as a sub category. A sub genre under the umbrella of construction photography. To take this another step architectural photography is the photographing of a completed building. Construction photography, on the other hand, is the photographing of the construction process, plant, materials, equipment and of course construction people. A construction photographer is someone who photographs buildings at ALL stages of a buildings life, including the construction phase. Architectural photography focuses on the completed build. While both terms are often used interchangeably architectural photography mainly focuses on the completed project (both exterior and interior.)

What is the purpose of Architectural Photography?

An architectural photographer is a professional who specializes in taking photographs of buildings and other structures. This type of photography is used for a variety of purposes, such as documenting the construction of a new building or to capture the beauty of an existing structure. The primary emphasis is made to capturing photographs of buildings and similar architectural structures that are both aesthetically pleasing and accurate in terms of representations of their subjects. Used to capture the details and features of architectural structures and design architectural photography is used by architects, contractors, interior designers, and others in the construction process to record and promote new and refurbished buildings.Architectural photographs are often used in portfolios of work which are presented to potential clients when bidding on new projects. Architectural photography is also used by the occupiers of buildings in the promotion of a wide variety of commercial sectors. Lastly, the photos are often utilized for viewing and promotion in situations where not everyone can see the building up close and in person.
